The goal for Lamorinda Passing League is to teach the next generation of high school players about common terminology and techniques. These range from basic to advanced concepts.
Our coaches emphasis these skills:
- Quarterbacks taking proper drops
- Wide Recievers running crisp and consistent routes
- Defensive Backs back pedaling with good form
Once the basic skills are learned we focus on more advanced skills:
- Quarterbacks learning to move safeties with their eyes; making pre-snap reads; going through progressions
- Wide Receivers adding subtle moves to set up and increase separation; ability to read defenses and adjusting routes accordingly
- Defensive Backs watching for WR tendencies; eye discipline; breaking on the football
Understanding football terminology is emphasized:
- Offensive formations (Spread, Trips and Bunch)
- Defensive coverages (cover 1, 2, 3 and 4)
- Wide Receiver routes (understanding basic route tree and route names)
