Lamorinda Passing League was formed in 2010 to provide high quality flag football games for skilled position players. The teams are made up of talented 5th - 8th graders who are looking to learn more about football in preparation for high school programs.
LPL does not keep records or hold playoff games. The emphasis is creating an enviorment with the focus on learning and improving as players while displaying great sportsmanship. The level of play is excellent given the best players in Lamorinda play LPL.
The game structure also contributes to the quality of play since it is easy for coaches to design plays and players to execute them without any practices. Since contact is not allowed, the game is easier to officiate which leads to less issues/conflicts.
The league has local high school football players coach the teams and are responsible for in-game play calling, defensive formations and player substitutions. LPL gives these players an opportunity to give back to the community and experience coaching for themselves.
Many of the best players at local high schools, both past and present, are alumni of Lamorinda Passing League.
